DAY 1, Sunday: Athens – Arrival
Arrival in Athens and transfer to the hotel. Our staff will hand you your Linaki Envelope with your vouchers, the map of Athens and other necessary information.
DAY 2, Monday: Athens – Mykonos
Transfer to the port of Piraeus in order to embark on the ship LOUIS OLYMPIA for the 4-Day cruise in 5 Greek islands and Turkey. Departure at 11.30.
Arrival in Mykonos at 18.00 and departure at 23.00. Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan islands of the Aegean Sea. It enchants all its visitors with its fabulous architecture of whitewashed cubical houses, immense sleeping windmills, innumerable bell towers and sandy beaches that coexist in perfect harmony. Walk around Chora and its maze-like alleys and browse through endless shops and celebrity passers-by. Do not miss the "mascot" of the island, a tamed pelican that goes by the name of "Petros".
DAY 3, Tuesday: Kusadasi (Turkey) - Patmos
Arrival in Kusadasi at 07.00 and departure at 12.00. Do not miss a visit to Ephesus, one of the largest open-air archaeological museums in the world. Ephesus was the ancient capital of Asia Minor where today are still located and preserved the Temple of Hadrian, Trajan's Fountain, Celsus' Library and the grand amphitheatre where Apostle St. Paul preached.
Arrival in Patmos at 16.00 and departure at 21.00. This island is known as the place where St. John the Evangelist wrote the "Apocalypse" and very possibly his Gospel in the cave of St. Anna, during his 2 year exile in the 1st century. Both the so-called "Grotto of the Apocalype" and the Monastery of St. John are its trademarks and they have placed it on the world map as an important religious destination.
DAY 4, Wednesday: Rhodes
Arrival in Rhodes at 07.00 and departure at 18.00. It is the island of "Roses" with great beauty and a long history of 2400 years with castles, fortresses, palaces, porticoes, mosques and antiquities. The Ancient City, built amphitheatrically around the port is protected by the medieval wall and was shaped by the Order of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, the Ottomans and the Italians. Beyond the Ancient City there are many locations to enjoy like Lindos where an ancient Acropolis dedicated to Goddess Athena stands majestically.
DAY 5, Thursday: Heraklion (Crete) - Santorini
Arrival in the port of Heraklion at 07.00, capital of Crete. Heraklion is located only 7 kilometres away from the ruis of the Knossos Palace, discovered in 1899 by Sir Arthur Evans and partly reconstructed. This majestic Palace holds the legendary labyrinth of King Minos and is the center of the ancient Minoic civilisation. The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion also displays many of the treasures found during the excavations. The ship will depart from Heraklion at 11.30.
Arrival in the island of Santorini at 16.30. Santorini has a unique pulse. It has red earth, white and red beaches, produces wine and unusual local products which are the result of its volcanic subsoil, unique cave settlements and houses, more than 600 churches and country chapels of folk architecture. You can get to the town of Fira by teleferic or by donkey. Departure at 21.00.
DAY 6, Friday: Piraeus - Athens
Arrival in Piraeus at 07:00. Transfer to Athens in order to take the Half Day City Tour of the city of Athens. This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. We shall make our first stop at the Panathenaic Stadium or Kalimarmaro which was built on the site of the old stadium, which hosted in 1896 the first Olympic Games of the modern era.
Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament with the monumentof the Unknown Soldier and the traditional Changing of the Guard, in the Constitution or Syntagma Square,the Academy, the University, the National Library, then to Omonia Square, which is the heart of Athens. On the Acropolis you will experience the exciting moments of the Golden Age of Athens, the works of the time of Pericles, The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike Ionian, in memory of the victory over the Persians, theErection, and the Parthenon of Athens Symbol of Democracy.
We will have the opportunity to visit the new Acropolis Museum, a marvel of modern architecture, which is in full view of the Acropolis with the monuments, where the collections of the findings in the excavationsadjacent to it can be seen. You will have the afternoon off in order to continue exploring the impressive artistic past of the city, stroll in the lively Plaka neighbourhood or do some shopping of folk arts and crafts.
DAY 7, Saturday: Athens - Departure
Transfer to the airport.
